Plaster finish
A traditional smooth, cement-based interior pool surface, the most common and least expensive finish for concrete/gunite pools.
Plaster finish is a troweled-on mixture of white cement and marble aggregate that forms the interior surface of most concrete and gunite pools, typically applied about a half-inch thick. It's the most affordable finish option and gives that classic pale blue look, but it's also the most porous and stain-prone, and it slowly wears down, developing a slightly rough texture over 7 to 15 years before needing resurfacing. Because it's calcium-based, plaster is especially sensitive to water balance: corrosive water (a low or negative LSI) etches it, while scale-forming water leaves it chalky and rough.
